What's actually in your carton and why it's there.
1. The seed oils nobody asked for.
Sunflower and rapeseed oil are in almost every "healthy" plant milk. Why? Because they're cheap emulsifiers, and they make watered-down milk feel creamier than it is. You're paying £4 a litre for what's mostly water — held together by industrial oil.
2. The gums that make it last for months.
Gellan, locust bean, xanthan, carrageenan. They're not in there for you they're in there so the carton can sit on a warehouse shelf for six months without separating. Fresh milk doesn't need them. Yours, made three minutes before you drink it, doesn't have them.
3. The "natural flavours" they don't have to disclose.
Under UK food law, "natural flavouring" is a legal black box. It can contain dozens of ingredients, and the manufacturer doesn't have to tell you which. With Milky Plant, the flavour comes from the nuts. If you can name it, it's in the milk. If you can't, it isn't.

Frequently asked questions
The carton I buy says "no added sugar, no preservatives." Isn't that the same thing?
No. "No preservatives" usually means no parabens or sorbates — but the gellan gum, sunflower oil, dipotassium phosphate, and stabilisers are all still in there. They're not classed as preservatives, they're classed as "functional additives." Same effect on the ingredient list, different word on the marketing.
What about calcium and B12? My carton is fortified.
It is because oats and almonds don't contain meaningful amounts of either. Homemade milk doesn't either. Most plant-milk drinkers get calcium and B12 from other foods (leafy greens, fortified cereals, supplements). If you rely on your milk for those nutrients, fortify it yourself or get them elsewhere. We'd rather you know the truth than imply ours is nutritionally identical to a fortified carton.
Can I use it for kids?
Talk to your paediatrician for under-2s, same as any plant milk. For older kids, it's the same product without the additives.
Is carrageenan actually bad for you?
We're not making a health claim either way. What we'll say: it's a stabiliser the EU has restricted in organic infant formula, and it's in most leading UK oat milks. You can decide if you want it in yours.
What types of milk can it make?
Almond, oat, cashew, pistachio, hazelnut, coconut, soy, plus blends anything you'd otherwise buy in a carton, and a few you can't.
How long does it take?
Three minutes from button press to ready-to-pour. No soaking required.
How long does it take?
Less than 3 minutes for fresh milk. Soups and other recipes take only slightly longer.
Do I have to clean it?
One-button self-clean. Add water, press the icon, done
